Kallie
is a beautiful young dog who we believe to
be a Great Pyrenees mix. Kallie
was rescued and is now in a foster home,
safe and sound. She is still a little shy
at first, but her sweetness is
unmistakable. She gets along great with the
other dogs in the home and the Foster
Parents have nothing but good things to say
about her. She appears to be housetrained
and will whine at the door until someone
lets her into the back yard. Kallie has now
been fully vaccinated, spayed and is
receiving regular heartworm prevention to
keep her heartworm free! She is ready for
her forever home. She is a quiet, gentle
dog; but, she's young and loves to play,
too! This sweet girl has proven the loyalty
that her breed is known for and she will
make a wonderful addition to any loving
family! Don't let her slip away, if you
think yours is the home for her!
Some of you may remember
reading in The Baytown Sun or here on the BHS Website about
Dixie, the Basset who was rescued from the streets - sick
and with a broken leg. Then she surprised everyone,
especially her rescuer, by giving birth to three
puppies! Then the struggle to find a foster home that
could and Would take care of this family of homeless dogs.
Well, we
are happy to report that Dixie and her puppies are all in
their forever homes now. This is the last portrait of the
little family, taken by their Foster Mom, before they went
separate ways to live their lives in different cities and
homes. Thanks goes to everyone involved in helping to save
this family - From the original rescuers and care givers to
The Baytown Sun for bringing attention to the plight of
these animals, the people who supported us in this effort
both financially and verbally, and MOST of all to the
Remarkable Family who took in this brood (and all the work
that came with them) and loved them with all their might;
then watched the puppies leave to start their new lives.
Dixie will be staying with them as they decided to
adopt Dixie themselves early on in the process.
It's been a
long journey for everyone, but all's well that ends well;
Three
area schools
participated in the Pennies for Pets program this school
year, and they showed us how it's done! The children in
all these schools learned about Rescue, Adoption, and
Responsible Ownership of Animals. They also learned
that if many people do just a little, the end result
will be great! These children now know that giving to
a cause you care about can make a big
difference and is the Right Thing To Do!
