In loving memory of my beloved friend, Barbara A. Elliott. Born Barbara Amelia Adcock on April 2, 1933 and passed away on January 9, 2007.
Barbara was more than just a friend. We met 30 years ago, at a time when my life had reached a very low plateau. She taught me so much. Over the years, she became my confidant, my teacher, my friend and "travel buddy," traveling all over the world. She guided me into financial security by pointing out my abilities and showing me how to Stand Up For Myself. She accepted my disabilities and taught me to rely on my strengths. When I least expected it, she would say, "Glenda, you are so smart!" I can say with great pride, because of her, I became the person I am today.
Barbara, in some small way, I hope I was able to repay you by being that same person you were, doing those same things for you, making your last several years safer, more comfortable, and enjoyable. I thank God, daily, for the privilege of being at your bedside the last three months of your life. I hope you felt the love, the serenity, the peace we shared. It was a very special time for me, my friend. Maybe that's what Friends are all about.
I know you will
always be my "Guardian Angel."
Thank you, Barbara, you will always be in my heart, my thoughts. I love you so. Rest in Peace, my friend, Glenda P.S. Barb, A token gift to honor your love of animals and a reminder for me of your frequent comment: "I love most animals more than the people I have met, they are always loyal."
