DIXIE

BEN & DIXON

DIXIE'S THREE PUPS

These three pups came from a rescued Basset who was injured by a car.   The Basset's name is Dixie and she gave birth to these puppies on November 20th, 2011.  So, these pictures are at about the seven-week mark!  As you can see, the puppies are very healthy and are going to be fairly large adults.  They have been wormed, and the first round of puppy shots have been administered. The Foster Mom is already housetraining them, too!   They will not be available for adoption until they have completed all their vaccines and have been altered; but, we want the families who will ultimately adopt these puppies to have a look now; and if you are really serious, you may go ahead and apply now for your choice(s) - all the while keeping in mind that it will be probably another 6 weeks or so before they will be eligible for actual adoption.  We will try to keep updated pictures posted for each pup!

In the photos of the three of them together, they are: (left to right)  Lizzy, Ben and Dixon.  Lizzy being the only female.  =)   Ben and Dixon appear almost twins in the photos, but they really are quite different in body structure and in personality.   I tell them apart by looking for Dixon's white-tipped ears!   Even if you aren't interested in adopting, you will enjoy looking at these pictures!

BEN

Ben is the largest of the litter, and quite possibly, the gentlest, too!Gentle Ben!  =)   Of the three pups, he most favors his Basset Mom with his short muscular legs and elongated body!  He's a strong boy, but still the 'fraidy cat' of the bunch!  He's slow moving, very affectionate, and not very adventurous.. just a big ole cuddle bug who will wrestle with his litter-mates and run after the cat, but he's just as happy to simply enjoy his chew toy in peace!  Is Ben your kind of dog??  He's not yet ready to go home with you, but you can send in an application for when he is!

DIXON

Dixon is smaller than his brother and looks more Beaglie than Basset.  This little fella is Full of Energy!   His Foster Mom describes him as 'a Leader!"  He's always the first in line and the last one to fall asleep. HOWEVER, he is a Momma's boy!!  That's why he was named after her!   Dixie has been trying to wean her babies for a couple of weeks now; but, Dixon won't believe her!  He insists that he's not ready, yet!  Dixon is a very sweet and loving pup who LOVES to be petted, held and kissed!  His tail wags fast with pure joy when he's getting this kind of attention.  But, he's pretty independent, too, and will go on adventures all on his own.  He's not afraid of anything, as he's quite certain that his Momma's milk gives him super powers!! =)   If you like the sound of Dixon's personality, you should throw your hat in the ring for him!  These babies are precious treasures, and there will be plenty of treasure hunters!   Fill out our Adoption Application or E-mail us.

LIZZY

Lizzy is Dixie's little girl-pup!  Since she's got only male siblings, she's learned to be tough; but, she can't hide her feminine side completely!  She's dressed different than the boys, she likes friends around all the time, and she 'talks' a lot, too.  Lizzy is the smallest of the litter and she's a happy little girl who gets along with everyone and every thing!  She does great with children, larger dogs and even the resident cat!  Provided, of course, that they all treat her gently and with respect!  She loves to play with them all and she will run to them, tail wagging furiously, to say, "Hey, let's play!"   If you want to cuddle, though, that's great with her, too;  she will sit calmly in your lap and soak up the affection.  Lizzy's been voted, 'Most Likely to Succeed" by her brothers!  Apply for Lizzy, if you think she's destined for great things in your home!

ANNIE

Annie is a calm, quiet Chihuahua, about 2 years old, who LOVES to snuggle and be cuddled.  She gets along fine with other small dogs, but wouldn't mind being the 'only child' in the home!  Annie is a small dog, at about six pounds, so she's not into roughhousing with children!  This perfect little girl is housetrained, fully vaccinated, spayed, and being kept on regular heartworm prevention.  Her foster home has noticed that even though she's Very affectionate, she will not give kisses!  So, for those of you who don't like licks in the face...here's the girl for you!  Don't let this little darling slip through your fingers!  Apply Now!

BOOGIE

Boogie is a Chihuahua mix little guy of about 2 years of age. He gets along fine with the other Chi's in the foster home, but he did try to bully them a bit at first.  He's over that now and is learning to play with toys and share his chew sticks.  He's OK with cats if they don't arch, hiss and run...he will give chase if they do that; but, a cat who is accustomed to dogs and doesn't run is just sniffed and left alone.  Boogie sleeps with his foster parents and they say, "he's a Bed Hog!"  He loves to be held and will eat as many baby carrots as you hand out.  The foster Mom said when he first arrived, she thought he was doing a lot of growling, but has come to realize that the sound is just Boogie Talk!  He's very vocal and has a lot to say!  This little guy is full of personality and needs a loving home to call his own.  He's housetrained, fully vaccinated, neutered and was heartworm free when we got him!  He receives regular monthly heartworm prevention.   Boogie is a good boy - don't let your opportunity to share life with him pass you by!  Apply today! Fill out our Adoption Application or E-mail us.

CHARLIE

Charlie is a happy-go-lucky, precious little guy who has NO idea that he's at all different. Well, of course, he knows he's Special, but different??? No Way! Despite his amputated front leg, Charlie can do any and everything any other dog can do!  This Darling is thought to be a Rat Terrier mix and he weighs approximately 10 pounds. He's about 10 months old, and has been fully vaccinated, neutered, and kept on regular, monthly heartworm prevention. His leg had been evaluated by at several vets, and the decision NOT to amputate was made after those consultations. However, after one of his flying leaps from on high, he bruised it badly enough that an Orthopedic vet suggested it was probably an ongoing issue, if we didn't amputate the leg now.  So, Charlie has now had surgery and we have a couple of after-surgery pictures so far. Charlie is getting around fine already since he didn't use the leg for support, anyway.   He hardly misses it!  He's beautifully leash trained, and looks forward to his walks! He's housetrained to wee-wee pads, but much prefers to wait and go outside! He's energetic and needs plenty of chew bones and at least one like-sized playmate to run and frolic with to expend some of that energy. Still, as busy as he is, Charlie is as sweet as pie, Loves to cuddle and gives THE sweetest kisses you can imagine. If this special little guy sounds like someone you could fall in love with, please apply to adopt him today! If you think he's cute in these pictures, you should just see him in person!

ADOPTED

DARCY & BODI

Darcy and Bodi are siblings.  After her rescuer trapped the Mom, they were discovered in a den that she had built to keep them safe from predators. She (now named "Annie") had been living in the woods and doing her best to feed herself and her babies. The rescuer had been feeding her, but did not realize that she had recently had puppies until after the Mom was trapped. So, now, Darcy and Bodi will soon be 3 months old and have had the very best of care from their rescuer. They have both been wormed, given their puppy vaccinations, altered, socialized with other dogs, and housetrained. The rescuer even had a DNA test run on them and discovered that their heritage is large dogs of all kinds! =) Bodi, a male, is the larger of the two and will probably top out at 55 - 60 pounds. Darcy, the dainty girl, will most likely be around 45-50 pounds. These puppies who had NO chance at a decent life at all are, instead, ready for adoption into good homes. They can be separated, but finding a single home would be great, too. Keep in mind that while they have had all the advantages that humans can afford them, they are still puppies; and, not knowing about all our human rules, will chew, dig, and play rough! They will also steal your heart, cuddle with you on the couch, protect you with all their might and bring more love and joy into your life than you can possibly imagine.

DANI

Dani is a Mini-Dachshund mix, most likely (judging from those EARS) mixed with Chihuahua.  There couldn't be a cuter little dog!   She is very gregarious; loves all people and loves the other dogs, large and small, in the foster home.   She's a cuddle bug; but, with the slightest prompting, will happily go for a romp, too!  This little precious is about 10 months old, weighs less than 6 pounds, and she's been trained to pee-pads.  Dani has been fully vaccinated, spayed, is heartworm Negative and ready to find her very own forever home.  If you think that your home is the one she's waiting for, please apply now.

Dani in her new home!
