Thank You,
San Jacinto Elementary!!!!
![]() The students and staff of San Jacinto Elementary have once again shown that no matter the economic environment there's always enough for the animals, if you work at it! This year's Pennies for Pets Campaign at San Jacinto Elementary produced $1,369.19 to benefit the animals in Baytown Humane Society's Foster Program!! Way to Go!!!
Buck, the largest dog currently in BHS's foster program, was the designated Foster Dog Ambassador to meet the children, do a little educating and lots of schmoozing this year! He loved the children and oh, my, they loved him back!
SJE's techers are to be commended for supporting the Pennies for Pets campaign each year. This was their Fourth!! They keep a chart of what each class raises, and the children learn the value of competition, giving to a good cause, and the fact that a little bit given by each mounts up to a great donation. Then the kids get to meet an actual recipient of their efforts and that's the cherry on top.
Coach Cheryl Warren is the driving force behind the entire Pennies for Pets
effort at San Jacinto and is a wonderful advocate for the animals. In
addition to her coaching duties, Cheryl teaches her classes about
responsible pet ownership and kindness to animals. She shares with them
important information about how to keep pets healthy, safe, and happy.
Teaching children of this age about responsible pet ownership and kindness
to animals is a real life lesson they will draw upon throughout their
lives.
Buck LUBS Coach Warren!!
We Lub her, too!!
And, all of this happens because of the total support of the San Jacinto Elementary's Principal, Becky Robins. Without her approval and cooperation, none of this would be possible! Thank You Principal Robins!!! We wish all leaders would learn from you that if you encourage your staff and don't stand in the way, Good things often unfold! =) Together, Principal Robins and Buck view the wall of special photos!!
After the Presentation Ceremony, the talk about animal care, thank you's were said, and the children went back to class, Principal Robins and Buck had a little game of Soccer!! We're not sure who actually WON, but it was a very entertaining match to watch!!
And, after the game, Buck was allowed to take the ball home with him!!
We had a wonderful time that morning at San Jacinto Elementary, and we hope
meeting
Buck and learning about how to care for pets was fun for them,
too! We are extremely grateful for the continued support of this school
and the students who attend there. The cost for rehabbing and maintaining
rescued animals is high, and your sizeable donation each year make a Big
Difference in animal lives!
Thank You!!!!
Below are some random pictures of the children and staff of San Jacinto
Elementary who contributed to the success of this year's Pennies for
Pets!!
A Special Thanks to Peggye Ripkowski, BHS Volunteer, for being on the other
side of the camera and taking all these photos!!
Hopefully, Buck will have found his forever home by then; but, right now, He's Looking forward to next year at San Jacinto Elementary in Baytown!!
